CAMIKA

Advocating for students and parents to increase equitable access to special services and community resources

My Story

ABOUT ME

I currently serve as the Child Find School Psychologist at Lake Travis Independent School District. In addition to performing evaluations, I have developed and facilitate an Early Childhood Special Education Parent Support Group to provide a safe space for learning and collaboration, facilitate community educator training for Childcare Centers within district boundaries, along with serving as a member of the district's Diversity Awareness Committee. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Youth Advocacy and Educational Studies from Texas Christian University in 2018 as a first-generation college graduate. I recently earned my Master of Arts/Specialist Degree in School Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in May of 2022 and am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

I am a native Texan from Fort Worth. I currently reside in Austin, Texas, with my two lovely sons, aged nine and eight.  Eliminating disparities is the center of my work, and my areas of interest focus on the power of early intervention and increasing social justice practices embedded in education. I emphasize the importance of personal and professional growth to set an example and create a foundation for my sons. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, stand-up comedy events, spending time with friends and family, and shopping.
